Ways To Decorate A Boy’s Room

Decorating a boy’s room can be quite the challenge, especially if you’re a single mom with no idea or experience what to use or choose for a boy’s room.  You have an abundance of themes and designs to choose from, but will your little boy like what he sees once the room’s finished?  It’s a question that many mothers would ask themselves sometimes, so to give you a heads-up on what to do when decorating a boy’s room, here are a set of tips on how to pick a theme, furniture, and what you can do so that your little boy will love his new room:

1) As much as possible let your son participate actively in the deciding process when choosing his wallpaper, the theme of the room’s furniture, the beddings, and the like.  You should at least ask him if he would like this particular design and suggest in a way that he will understand you well.

2) When choosing a theme for the room, decide if you would like to have wallpaper on the wall or paint.  You may need to hire a professional to do the job for you so make sure to schedule an appointment early so that there is enough time for the paint or the wallpaper to be applied onto the walls.

3) Make sure not to go over your initial budget when planning on decorating your little boy’s bedroom.  Remember that this is a long-term investment in a sense that this is going to be the room he will grow up in, so don’t spend too much on décor that you know will be taken down as soon as he gets older.

4) Allow your son to help you in picking out beddings for his new bed and for his pillows.  He will most likely pick cartoon themes like A Bug’s Life or Star Wars so you might want to buy one of a cartoon series and another that’s boyish yet abstract so that when he gets older, he can immediately switch to the latter.  You should also let him help you in fixing his beddings so that you can let him know that this is going to be his bed from now on.

5) Furniture should go well with the theme of the room.  If not, choose furniture of the same material so that the balance is maintained.  For example, if you’re buying a wooden bed frame, don’t buy a set of metal drawers and a plastic cabinet to go with it.
