How To Decorate A Little Girl’s Room

When decorating a little girl’s bedroom, you have to remember that a girl’s room should be designed and made with utmost care as it is going to be your daughter’s sanctuary, her place of comfort and rest, and a room where she will create and preserve memories till the day she leaves it for her new life in college.  Decorating the room should also be a fun experience, whether it is between mother and daughter or father and daughter, so you should be willing to commit to the project till the very end.  You wouldn’t want your daughter’s room to look ugly, boring, and dull because of lack of enthusiasm and research now, would you?  Definitely not, so to get started here are some possible tips to try when decorating a girl’s room:

1) Start by deciding on a budget for the room.  The budget should cover the decorations for the wall, the furniture, the beddings, and other things to make the room a magnificent place to be in.  After that, tell yourself to stick to that budget no matter what unless the situation calls for you to spend more.

2) Get ideas by flipping through home décor catalogues, magazines, and by browsing through online décor sites.  You can definitely pick out a theme or color and show it to your interior designer who you have consulted with to help you in decorating your little girl’s bedroom.  Company Kids and Pottery Barn Kids have lots of choices when it comes to themes and styles for the little girl’s bedroom.

3) If you have extra furniture to add to the room, go ahead and place them wherever they fit.  If not, take your little girl with you to buy furniture so that she will be able to see what will be added to her new room.

4) While shopping for furniture, don’t forget to choose at least two beddings for your little girl’s room.  Let her choose the colors and themes as she might want to have Barbie or Swan Princess as her beddings.  If you’d want to make the most out of the beddings, buy a pink or lilac abstract bedding set so that you can use this even if she gets older.

5) If you’ve decided to paint or cover the walls with wallpaper, make sure that it fits the theme of the entire room as much as possible.  The colors should match or blend well with the color of the beddings and the color of the ceilings and floors so that the balance won’t be disturbed.

Last, but not the least, accessorize the room with your daughter at your side.  Let her help you with the beddings, decorate the windows with pretty ruffled curtains, and arrange her stuffed dolls.
